Roberts Elementary Chess Club – 2026 Spring Session
| What: | Chess instruction with National Master Justin Gardner and Coach Kacey |
| Who: | Beginner, Novice, and Intermediate/Advanced. Ages 6-11. Unfortunately Kindergartners will not be allowed in the 2026 Spring Session. Spacing is LIMITED – only 16 spots for Beginners Continued, 16 spots for Novice, and 16 spots for Intermediate/Advanced. |

Beginners Continued Class (this is a continuation and will build upon what the Beginners learned in the Fall 2025 Session) Novice/Intermediate/Advanced Class ***Coach Justin and Coach Kacey will split up the students accordingly to go the appropriate class (Novice or Intermediate/Advanced).*** |

Tuesdays and Thursdays (Novice and Intermediate/Advanced ONLY) from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (1st Grade – 5th Grade) *OPTIONAL Add-On* – “Tournament Practice Classes” on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Intermediate/Advanced ONLY!) from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (1st Grade – 5th Grade) – while there is no formal instruction in these classes, students will be playing simulated tournament games using chess clocks, writing down chess notation, and playing with USCF (United States Chess Federation) rules such as “touch move” and “touch take”. These “Tournament Practice Classes” are designed to get students ready for upcoming tournaments. |
| Levels: | Beginners Continued (Mondays ONLY) – this is a continuation and will build upon what the Beginners learned in the Fall 2025 Session.
Novice (Tuesdays/Thursdays ONLY) – knows how the pieces move and may/may not know about castling. Intermediate/Advanced (Tuesdays/Thursdays ONLY) – knows castling, development, check, checkmate (and be able to carry out a checkmate), stalemate, and tactics (such as pins, double attacks/forks, and skewers). *OPTIONAL Add-On* – “Tournament Practice Classes” (Intermediate/Advanced ONLY!) – while there is no formal instruction in these classes, students will be playing simulated tournament games using chess clocks, writing down chess notation, and playing with USCF (United States Chess Federation) rules such as “touch move” and “touch take”. | Tuition: | Mondays (Beginner Continued ONLY) $300 for 15-week (15 classes) chess course on Mondays from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (Novice and Intermediate/Advanced ONLY) $700 for 18-week (36 classes) chess course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Novice and Intermediate/Advanced ONLY)OR$1050 for 18-week (36 classes) chess course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. + *Optional Add-On*– “Tournament Practice Classes” (Intermediate/Advanced ONLY!) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (1st Grade – 5th Grade). |
